About ACANA Coldwater Fish Recipe
ACANA Coldwater Fish Recipe is a grain-free dry dog food made in Edmonton, Alberta, using only fish as its animal protein: trout, salmon, hake, pollock and mackerel. There's no chicken, beef or other meat in it. About 60% of the recipe comes from animal ingredients, and the rest is lentils, peas, chickpeas, pumpkin, squash, leafy greens and fruit.
It's part of ACANA's 2026 lineup and is complete for dogs of all life stages, including large-breed puppies. Because it's all fish, it's naturally rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which support skin and coat. The kibble has a freeze-dried coating for extra flavour.

Ingredients
Raw trout (19%), raw salmon (12%), salmon meal (9%), whole red lentils, whole pinto beans, whole green peas, fish oil (8%), whole green lentils, whole chickpeas, whole yellow peas, raw whole hake (4%), pollock meal (4%), mackerel meal (4%), sunflower oil, lentil fibre, pea starch, calcium carbonate, salt, dried kelp, yeast (S. cerevisiae), fresh whole pumpkin, fresh whole butternut squash, fresh whole zucchini, fresh whole carrots, fresh whole apples, fresh whole pears, fresh kale, fresh spinach, fresh beet greens, fresh turnip greens, whole cranberries, whole blueberries, dried chicory root, turmeric, althea root, rosehips, juniper berries.
Added vitamins and minerals: Zinc proteinate, copper proteinate, vitamin E and B-complex vitamins. Preserved naturally with tocopherols (vitamin E), citric acid and rosemary extract.
In plain terms: raw trout and raw salmon lead the list, followed by salmon meal. Fish meals are concentrated protein, because the water has been removed. Fish oil makes up 8% of the recipe, which is where most of the omega-3 (DHA and EPA) comes from. Lentils, beans and peas replace grains as the carbohydrate source.

Feeding and Switching Foods
How much to feed (adult dogs, per day):
| Dog's weight | Less active | Active |
|---|---|---|
| 2–5 kg | ¼–½ cup | ½–¾ cup |
| 5–10 kg | ½–1 cup | ¾–1⅓ cups |
| 10–20 kg | 1–1½ cups | 1⅓–2⅓ cups |
| 20–30 kg | 1½–2 cups | 2⅓–3¼ cups |
| 30–40 kg | 2–2⅔ cups | 3¼–4 cups |
| 40–60 kg | 2⅔–3½ cups | 4–5⅓ cups |
Puppies: Feed about twice the adult amount at 1.5–3 months, 1.5 times at 3–6 months, and 1.25 times at 6–11 months. Large-breed puppies may need adjusted amounts, so check with your vet as they grow.
Treat these amounts as a starting point and adjust to keep your dog at a healthy weight.
Switching foods: Mix the new food into your dog's current food over 7 to 10 days, adding a little more each day. A slower switch helps avoid an upset stomach, especially for dogs with sensitive digestion.
Water and storage: Always keep fresh water available. Keep the bag sealed in a cool, dry place.
